The starting price is less than 28,000 USD, but the Chinese electric car Zeekr X is capable of accelerating to 100km / h in just 3.7 seconds.
Electric vehicle brand Zeekr of Geely Group officially launched an all-new crossover model called X yesterday in China, with plans to conquer the European market.
Equipped with many high-tech “toys”, possessing remarkable performance, and designed in Sweden, the Zeekr X will probably “snatch” customers with an extremely attractive price.
The front light cluster is designed quite stylishly, combined with the embossed ribs on the bonnet to create a sporty look for the car.
Designed at Zeekr’s studio in Gothenburg, Sweden, the Model X uses Geely’s sustainable electric vehicle platform.
Responsible for the design of this model is former design director at Bentley and Audi – Mr. Stefan Sielaff, now Geely’s president of global design. He was also the director of vehicle interior design at Daimler.
Equipped with two electric motors, with a capacity of 422 hp and 543 Nm of torque, Zeekr X can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 3.7 seconds.
Thanks to the aerodynamic design and silicon carbide battery pack, the car can run 560km after each full charge (according to CLTC standards).
The 1.21 square meter glass roof will allow natural light to flood into the cabin.
There are many fancy and personal exterior paint colors, besides traditional colors such as white, gray, or cream.
The car’s performance specs are impressive, but the most surprising is the price – starting at just 189,800 yuan (US$27,615 at current exchange rates).
With such pricing, it’s clear that the Chinese electric car brand is targeting Tesla (and its recent price cuts). For example, the standard version of the Tesla Model Y is priced in China from 261,900 yuan ($38,095), the Long Range AWD version costs 311,900 yuan ($45,370), and the Performance AWD version costs 361,900 yuan. yuan ($52,640).
The cockpit is designed in a minimalist style, with the highlight being a large screen floating on the dashboard.
A special feature is that the central screen can be slid horizontally on the dashboard.
The seats have a sporty yet elegant look.
Zeekr X is equipped with “small but mighty” utilities, which are easy to create sympathy for customers, such as glass covers mounted on the roof of the car.
This electric crossover features innovative design details, such as large wheels, frameless doors, frameless mirrors and concealed charging socket covers.
The seats and parts of the interior are upholstered in fiberglass velvet, which Zeekr claims is as soft as real leather but very durable.
The Zeekr X model has a length x width x height of 4,450mm x 1,836mm x 1,572mm respectively, which is slightly larger than the Range Rover Evoque.
Zeekr promises this electric crossover has a spacious interior and a storage capacity of up to 1,182 liters.
One of the impressive high-tech features of the Zeekr X is that it allows the car owner to unlock it through facial recognition.
Zeekr said it will start delivering the first X cars to customers in China in June. The company also plans to launch this model in Europe, but has not set a specific time.
Speaking to Reuters, CEO Andy An said Zeekr is also very interested in Asian markets other than China but did not specify, and currently has no plans to sell cars in the US.
