Andy Roddick Warns Novak Djokovic: Fast Moves on the Court Could Pose Career-Threatening Risks

Novak Djokovic‘s further tennis participation is at risk! After his French Open withdrawal, things have gotten a bit risky while he gets ready to aim for Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics. Amid all this chaos, recently, his arch-rival, Andy Roddick, came forward to share some warnings of the potential risks, that might come with him if he plays Wimbledon without full recovery.

In Tennis Channel’s recent podcast, the American tennis legend opened up about the Serb’s recovery. He stated, “Listen, bet against the icons at your own peril. But this is normally too short of a timeline for someone to not only be healthy enough to where it’s, it’s if the injury is fixed, but you actually have to practice to you have to be prepared to go through seven matches three out of five over the course.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion reluctantly withdrew from his quarterfinal match at Roland Garros against Casper Ruud at the beginning of June. This occurred after an important scan indicated that he had suffered a torn medial meniscus in his right knee, an injury that required emergency care and time off from work.

Further, he added, “And by the way, this is a slippery surface. We’re seeing people take a lot of L’s as far as movement goes. If you have a new knee, you know, a knee that just been operated on. Do you want to risk that when you know you’re kind of at the tail of end of your career, all that to say it doesn’t look good, but I listen you bet against Novak because I’m certainly not going to.”

Andy Roddick issues ultimate statement on Novak Djokovic's greatness, Slam dominance

The 37-year-old tennis player, stated a few weeks ago that he had a successful knee surgery, but he did not specify when he would be making his way back to the court. Djokovic has participated in four Olympic competitions over his stellar career, winning a bronze in Beijing in 2008. He has made it clear that he intends to make the Olympic Games his top priority this summer, as he works hard to win the gold medal in singles tennis, which has escaped him despite his long list of accomplishments.

The Serbian committee stated on its website, “Novak Djokovic and Dusan Lajovic have fulfilled the conditions according to ATP ranking and confirmed their participation at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024.” Only a few days ago, though, Marion Bartoli gave a positive update, stating that there is “a greater chance” that Novak Djokovic will play at Wimbledon this year as opposed to being sidelined by injury.

Marion Bartoli gives a positive update on Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon participation The former world No. 7 disclosed that Djokovic’s physiotherapist provided him with this positive information. She also claimed that Djokovic would be “one of the two favorites” to win Wimbledon if he decides to compete.

He stated, “And what I can tell you is that, internally, what is said is that there is a greater chance that Djokovic will play Wimbledon than the other way around. So we have to stop thinking that he won’t play at Wimbledon. And if he finally plays, of course he will be one of the two favorites.

With the 2024 Wimbledon Championships starting on July 1, Djokovic will have less than two weeks to be ready. Djokovic has an impressive record on grass courts, having won seven titles at the All England Club and holding the third-best ranking in the world right now. He has only lost one match at this esteemed Grand Slam since 2016, demonstrating his supremacy and positioning him as a strong candidate for the trophy this year.
